Introduction
As a graduating student who is constantly involved in many volunteering activities inside the community, I have recently heard numerous complaints from various volunteering organizations regarding the inefficiency of their ways to organize volunteer’s profile and information on volunteering projects. The problem came from the fact that most organizations that are in charge of youth volunteering activities run non-profit, and thus it is not likely for them to purchase expensive softwares which specializes in organizing manpower. Furthermore, some of the simpler, free software tends to address only one side of the problem – that means only one of the volunteer profile and project is taken into account. Rarely has there a program that is both cheap and “well-round”, processing information on both volunteers and project. This is the program that I was aiming to achieve through my dossier. I really enjoy taking part in volunteering for the community. Therefore I hope my program – Volunteerist – will make the work of volunteering organizations enjoyable as well.
